My photography is rooted in a deep connection to the outdoors and an appreciation for the way a landscape can transform from one moment to the next. I grew up outside Cleveland, Ohio, before moving west—first to Colorado and eventually to California. Living in these very different landscapes has shaped both how I see and how I photograph the natural world. While photography often takes me into the mountains and to remote places, I believe a meaningful image can be made just as easily in your own backyard. The photograph is less about the grandeur of a destination than how we learn to see it.

I’m drawn both to classic landscapes and to more abstract compositions that convey the feeling of a place rather than simply documenting it. To explore that line between representation and interpretation, I often use slower shutter speeds to capture movement or long lenses to compress space and isolate details within a scene.

Much of my process is built around patience and repetition. I often return to the same places, believing that the strongest photographs come from developing a familiarity with a landscape over time. For me, subtle fluctuations in light, the flow of the tide, or the placement of a cloud can make all the difference in an image.

I’ve had the opportunity to learn from and teach alongside artists at Maine Media Workshops + College, Santa Fe Photographic Workshops, and Chris Burkard Workshops. My photographs are held in private collections and have been exhibited in galleries and other spaces across the country. I am represented by District Gallery in Shaker Heights, Ohio, where I grew up.
